America was built by hard working people making bricks and lime, and then building homes and towns.

Brick and Lime is a company that we made to bring you our passion for America getting the restoration it deserves.

We know masonry restoration. We will assess the work to be done, answer your questions, and give you a free quote.

Making a basement breathable again--that's the goal of real masonry restoration.  A new coat of lime plaster and limewash makes walls bright, sound, smooth, and mold-resistant.

Chimney Repairs

Chimneys take the brunt of the weather.  Constant moisture mixes with smoke residue to create perfect conditions for mortar failure.  Repair or reconstruct, and get a chimney cap installed to prevent future damage.

Remove deteriorated mortar from walls and replace with breathable, durable lime mortar.  Color-matched to the original mortar.
Mortar is the essence of historic masonry restoration, and understanding lime is the key to it all. That's what we do at Brick and Lime. It's who we are.

What Our Clients Say

I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know of our complete satisfaction with our recent chimney project, from start to finish. From discovery, through site preparation and on to the actual tear-down and rebuild, you all maintained great communication (we always knew when you planned to come to work and what you needed from us), an extremely controlled and tidy work site and unflagging cheerfulness.

It was a great pleasure meeting Seth and Matt and I can only thank them in the highest terms for their courtesy, sense of humor and terrific work.

The finished project is eye-catching; the copper flashing draws the eye to the clean, well-proportioned lines of the new chimney, set off by its stone coping. This project being undertaken for purely pragmatic safety reasons, the end result was much more attractive than I or Nikita anticipated.

We fully intend to contact you next spring to take on the task of restoring our second chimney- this one having been truncated below the roofline- so that a liner can be fitted to the flue and we can have a small soapstone stove as a source of ‘comfort heat’ and emergency back up in the event of a power failure. We look forward to working with you again.

We highly recommend the Brock and Lime Company to anyone looking to repair, restore or customize any brickwork project.

I hired Brick and Lime to repoint my chimney and do minor mortar repair on my home. Truly a wonderful company. They completed the work in a professional and timely manner and even came back to acid wash the chimney to make sure it looked great.

The crew that came could not have been kinder or more accommodating. This is an honest company that makes sure the job is done well. Neighbors are already asking for their number!

We were fairly new to the area and had no idea where to go for help with a chimney issue.  I’m so glad we were able to find Jonathan and The Brick and Lime Company.  He was friendly and professional and did a great job.

We were especially surprised when we got a call a week or two later asking if they could stop by to check be sure the leak (the original reason we called) was no longer a problem after a few days of heavy rain.   I highly recommend Brick and Lime.

We live in a house built in the 1920s which didn’t have a lot of chimney maintenance, to say the least. Brick and Lime was recommended and so glad we went with them. I think these guys are direct descendants of the craftsmen who built the great architectural wonders of the world. Talk with them and you’ll see what I mean. Watch them at work and you’ll have no doubts. Can’t recommend Brick and Lime highly enough.

The Brick and Lime team was professional, knowledgeable and reasonably priced. Led by Jonathan, they worked with our family’s schedule and efficiently repaired our damaged chimney. They also brought in a craftsman that did great repair work to our deteriorating copper bay window roof and rain spouts. We are extremely satisfied and if needed we will be calling on Brick and Lime again in the future.

“Jonathan Arn has worked at our home (c. 1781) on multiple occasions. He has restored the foundation of our “settler’s cottage” and built an extensive patio with over 100’ of dry laid limestone walls using over 135 tons of stone material. The results are truly superb. Whether he is working on a brick foundation or a stone wall, he is able to identify the best way for the pieces to fit together, resulting a in an eye-pleasing final product. He and his crew work quietly, steadily and efficiently. Other than the sound of  hammers, one would not know that they were working right outside of the house. We have found him always to be honest and dependable. It is a pleasure to do business with Jonathan as he is mature, soft-spoken and confident in his ability.  At the end of a hard day of work, it was common to see him looking at and admiring his work. That speaks to the pride he has in his work, a quality that is rarely seen these days.  Jonathan Arn is a talented and versatile artisan whom we wholeheartedly recommend for all types of masonry.”
